Congratulations to Jacques Dubochet (CH) - Co-laureate for the Nobel Prize in Chemistry 2017

I would like to congratulate Prof. Jacques Dubochet for his Nobel Prize in Chemistry !

I met him during my degree in Biology at the University of Lausanne more than 10 years ago. In addition to his work in Chemistry, he also highlighted that science was a thought larger than the experiments and the knowledge in the field. He created specific lectures to think about science in a social context. He also pinpointed the importance of communication between scientists and large public.

I was fascinated by these lectures and I co-organised with him a public interdisciplinary seminar of biomedical ethics about technological implants and transhumanism. It was the beginning of my interest for bioethics. Since this day, I knew I could not be a scientist, if I thought of science as an isolated concept. I will never forget it. I will never forget his encouragements for my future career...
